PartyGaming Takes A Hit With Bingo Night Live Cancellation
PartyGaming was supposed to ride the bingo wave to massive profits. Bingo Night Line on ITV was supposed to be the meal ticket for PartyGaming , who built an online site specifically to correspond with the television show in the UK.
The first few weeks it appeared that the show would be a phenomenon and be a big money maker for PartyGaming. Things have changed drastically, however, over the past few months, and the show has now been cancelled.
"It was an interesting experiment but the viewing figures were not high enough and while the participation levels were OK in terms of people playing online, the numbers who actually wanted to play for cash were minuscule. The numbers just didn't add up in commercial terms," said an ITV source to Bingo News.
PartyGaming is now left holding the bag on the cancelled show. They have devoted many resources to correspond the online site with the television show. Now they will need to regroup and turn in another direction.
"With the online bingo industry entering a boom phase, it is ironic that a popular show could not do the trick and get people to wager online. Without the television show, it will be hard to redirect focus and still make the website successful," said Byron Brown, a fan of the former Bingo Night Live.
