College Football Bowl Picks: Notre Dame Spending Time In Hawaii
The college bowls will heat up shortly after Christmas Day, but there still is a game to be played before then. Notre Dame is traveling to Hawaii to face the hometown team in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
For Notre Dame the trip will be bittersweet on several different fronts. The fact that they are not returning to a BCS bowl is tough on the Irish faithful, but being involved in a bowl at all seems like an accomplishment this year.
Notre Dame had one of the most disappointing seasons in their history this year. The bad season has led to some rumors that head coach Charlie Weis could be relieved of his coaching duties after the season. There already has been rumors about Florida coach Urban Meyer taking over in South Bend.
Despite their rough season, sportsbooks have made Notre Dame the betting favorite in the Hawaii Bowl. They are favored by 2.5 points. The total for the game is 49.5, which would indicate the possibility of a high scoring affair.
After the game tonight, the bowls take a break fro Christmas Day, then return on the 26th of December when Florida Atlantic and Central Michigan face off in Detroit. That will be almost like a home game for Central Michigan, compared to the Owls who have flown in from South Florida.
